The Goat
The Ionion Aquarium-Museum in Lixouri and its twin in Santa Maria al Bagno (Lecce, Salento) were created under the Greece–Italy INTERREG IV 2007–2013 programme, funded 75% by the EU (ERDF) and 25% by Greek and Italian national funds. The project set up two aquarium-museums on opposite shores of the Ionian Sea to showcase the sea’s natural and cultural heritage and promote Blue Growth. The aquarium is owned by the Municipality of Kefalonia, which provides its administrative and technical support.
